My research explores how midlatitude weather systems shape regional climate and hydroclimate extremes. I study the dynamics of extratropical cyclones and storm tracks, focusing on how their interactions with the large-scale circulation influence precipitation, drought, and long-term variability. Through a combination of theoretical analysis, observations, and numerical modeling, I aim to bridge the long-standing divide between weather and climate by improving our understanding of how synoptic-scale processes drive, and are modulated by, climate variability and change.
